A fabric called blackout, first developed in Finland, has rapidly gained popularity. What is it? This is an extremely aesthetically attractive fabric, the pretty appearance of which is combined with impressive characteristics that make the blackout curtain material almost an ideal fabric for sewing curtains, curtains and curtains. It was appreciated by both designers, who immediately began to invent various ways of decorating blackout, and ordinary consumers, who prioritize such characteristics of curtain fabric as wear resistance, opacity and density.

How is blackout produced?

Fabric production for blackout curtains is a complex technological process. The panel is made by cunningly weaving several threads, forming as a result three layers - inner and two outer. The inner layer consists of a black polyester thread, which provides opacity, and the outer ones are made of threads that give the blackout its signature texture and make it so beautiful. The layers are also treated with acrylic foam, which additionally seals the fabric and also has a positive effect on opacity. After the formation of the structure is completed, the fabric is dyed and decorated (if required) with various patterns and drawings. The production process consists of many stages, and this is partly due to the fact that the fabric for blackout curtains is not the lowest cost.

Blackout features

The main advantage of this fabric is usually called its opacity. It is really impressive, and by getting curtains made of this material, you can be sure that at night you will not be disturbed by any random ray of light. Blackout is very durable and resistant to damage, and indeed to any external influences, it does not crumple and does not deform if it is washed. Due to the processing with acrylic foam and a total density of up to 220 grams per square meter, the blackout curtain material does not let in light, for which it is, in fact, appreciated. At the same time, the texture of the fabric makes it easy to apply any drawings on it, which opens up a huge scope for the imagination of designers, and blackout coloring is possible in various ways.

What is a blackout like?

Most often on sale there is an ordinary reflective blackout fabric, to which everything written above applies. Colors, patterns and drawings can be very different, there is a lot of choice here, so it will not be difficult to choose something exactly for your interior. But there is also a special "non-combustible" blackout, which differs from the original by a special treatment to which it is subjected in order to increase its resistance to fire. An alternative method of producing a non-combustible blackout is also possible - weaving a special thread into it that is resistant to fires. Well, the third kind of this fabric is the so-called "street blackout", specially designed for outdoor use. It is actually an ordinary blackout, only processed for better resistance to the environment. This variety is actively used in the production of street advertising banners and banners.

Depending on the technology of weaving threads, blackout fabric is also divided into several subspecies. The so-called "blackout linen" is most often found on sale, the texture of which resembles the texture of a linen cloth. But recently, a brilliant blackout with a smooth and even surface has also been gaining popularity. This effect is achieved by adding a satin thread to the blackout fabric. Both varieties can be either monophonic or have some kind of pattern - it depends on the model. There is also a jacquard blackout. Convex patterns on its surface are made using a special weave of threads of the upper jacquard layer.

What is blackout good for?

Fabrics for blackout curtains, as their name implies, were originally developed for sewing curtains and curtains from them.
